Over time cultured marble can become scratched chipped stained or simply out dated. They re actually closer to fiberglass or resin which means that if the surface is discolored scratched or you re just sick of it you can paint over it in good conscience. Cultured marble is not like corian or the other so called solid surface products. The surface coloring is a coating does not go through the countertop.

I have a few that must have surfaced and popped later and have left tiny indentations on the surface. Used epoxy resin to clear coat an etched cultured marble vanity top that i had painted to resemble carrara marble. Not hugely visible but i know they are there. It can be permanently defaced by deep scratches excessive scouring or cleaning with abrasive cleansers.

Cultured marble is a blend of marble dust and polyester resin and is often used for bathroom vanities sinks and shower pans and walls. Make sure you keep at the bubble popping until they are gone.
